Author: Brown, Duncan Writer and artist, Duncan Brown was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He began publishing and illustrating his poetry in 1984 and now has a series of contemporary illuminations of his work in mixed media, which he has exhibited in London, Glasgow, Paisley, Ipswich and most recently in Edinburgh, (5th to 29th August, 2008). From 1995 to 1999, in concert with artist Sheila Faber, Duncan Brown produced and displayed a community arts project in celebration of Robert Burns: Phase 1 of ‘The Clothes off our Backs’, (1995 to 1997), comprised selected poems by Burns, sewn onto clothing and exhibited on washing lines at open air events such as The Glasgow Fair Festival, (1996), and The Edinburgh Festival, (1997). The second phase was a schools’ project: ‘Tam o’ Shanter: A Sculpture in Cloth’, which was on display at Scotland Street School Museum in Glasgow from October to January, 1998 to 1999. Two films are available of these events. Duncan Brown is a regular contibutor to poetry websites. |
