Shane A Jones was born in Zimbabwe on 7 February 1956 whilst it was still known as Rhodesia, a British colony. She was born on a farm Matemwa, quite close to Marandallas, which is now known as Marandawa.

Her lineage runs back to England during the early 1800s, i.e. before the 1820 Settlers settled on the Eastern shores of South Africa. Shane’s family moved from Zimbabwe to live in Cape Town, South Africa, in the mid to late 1960s. This is where she grew up and in her late teens moved to Somerset West, about fifty kilometres from Cape Town.

Shane has a passion for preparing good food and, having accumulated almost two hundred years of recipes, aging from way back to 1814, she decided to capture some of these priceless recipes in a book. A book in which she has included a number of more modern recipes as well. Books are an extremely personal method of communication and I believe she has captured her outgoing motherly spirit in these scrumptious recipes.
